Moreover NAYS Ltd., strongly oriented to research and knowledge, is in constant search for partners at national and international level, to participate in European programs addressing issues relating to environment, management plans, integrated coastal zone management, spatial planning, aquaculture, fisheries, climate change, alternative forms of tourism, rural tourism etc.
- Project ECONET – Fish fry recruiting devices (Research for innovative methods). The dream of every fishery manager is to set out his policy measures in such a way that young fish are protected, while adult fish are caught after they have reached maturity and spawning. Every gram of biomass that has been saved in juvenile fish may provide one to ten kilograms of adult fish. It is obvious that the introduction of preventive measures towards the protection during the early stage of fish’ life will increase drastically adult fish biomass.The aim of this proposal is to meet these requirements in the most lucrative fishing section of the Mediterranean, the demersal fishery. The objective of the project is to provide to the fishing industry simple and inexpensive means in order to establish large scale protection programs.
- Project DiscardLess – Strategies for the gradual elimination of discards in European fisheries (This H2020 project will evaluate the impacts of discarding on the marine environment, on the economy, and across the wider society. The project will also monitor the actual developments before, during and after the implementation of the landing obligation (LO), allowing comparison between intentions and outcomes).DiscardLess will help provide the knowledge, tools and technologies as well as the involvement of the stakeholders to achieve the gradual elimination of discarding. These will be integrated into Discard Mitigation Strategies (DMS) proposing cost-effective solutions at all stages of the seafood supply chain.
- Determination of seabream optimal morphology, development of modern morphometric tools and genetic basis control for the integration of shape in genetic improvement programs.
- Optimization of dietary management through the use of video systems - imaging in Greek Mariculture.
