We are pleased to inform you that, as a culmination of all the intensive efforts made by the Administration, the POAY Management Bodies and our company, NAYS, for more than ten years, concerning the establishment of Areas of Organized Development of Aquaculture Activities (‘POAY’ – acronym of the respective Greek terminology), in implementation of the current legislation, i.e. the Special Spatial Framework and Sustainable Development for Aquaculture and the Joint Ministerial Decision 17239/2002, the first three Presidential Decrees for the establishment of POAY regarding marine fish farming were issued in April 2021.

The presidential decrees issued were the following:

These Presidential Decrees were issued after the approval of all three Studies submitted by our company, NAYS in the respective study areas.

It is acknowledged, the establishment of areas of organized development of aquaculture, under the management and administration of a Body that serves as the “Operator” of POAY, with the issuing of a Presidential Decree, is a breakthrough for the aquaculture sector that contributes to the recognition of its importance, promoting the growth and strengthening the sector’s extroversion, with the hope of overcoming the difficulties the sector has suffered, due to the COVID 19 pandemic and the stagnation that had prevailed before the establishment of P.O.A.Y.

Our company would kindly like to thank all those who have offered their assistance in our efforts, for their valuable contribution in resolving the issues we faced in order to advance the process of the POAY establishment and at the same time we would like to congratulate them for the result of our common efforts, which were crucial for the development of the aquaculture sector and in extension to the Country.

For our company, NAYS, which has been active for years in the direction of the establishment of Areas of Organized Development of Aquaculture Activities (POAY) throughout the territory of our Country, this achievement has been a key goal over time and it is an important milestone for our ongoing evolvement.
